DAYS on DIFFRACTION are usually held in the end of May - beginning of June by the St.Petersburg Branch of the Mathematical Institute of Russian Academy of Science and the University of St.Petersburg.

DAYS on DIFFRACTION are held since the beginning of 70-es. First these seminars summed up the results of an annual scientific work of Leningrad Diffraction School founded by academicians V. A. Fock and V. I. Smirnov, and every time they ended in a friendly picnic party. Year by year scientists from other cities began to participate in the Workshop , and DAYS on DIFFRACTION became an Annual All Union Scientific Seminar. Since 1991 it is an International Venue. Recent {\it DD}s were reported by E.V.Jull [IEEE AP Magazine, vol.34, no.6, 1992; The Radioscientist, vol.4, no.1, 1993] and B.Bridge [Nondestr. Testing Evaluation, vol.11, 369--372, 1994].

This year DAY on DIFFRACTION'96 will open on June 4, 1996 in Saint Petersburg. We are pleased to invite scientists from all over the world who are interested in mathematical problems of Diffraction Theory.

At this home-page please find abstracts of talks to be presented at the Seminar. We are thankful to all authors who had submitted camera-ready manuscripts.

We hope that our meeting will be fruitful and lead to progress in Diffraction Theory.
